Born in 1962 in Saigon, Vietnam. He lives and works in Paris, France. Duong has an other profession, he is an orthopedic surgeon, he works on the human body everyday, shaping and modeling its most intimate reality, which affords him with an inside perspective on it.
Through his sculptures, he endeavors to communicate this same emotion, because, in the end, when you think about it, carving a bone and sculpting artistic matter hold many similarities.
The flesh is thus transfigured to give place to more lightness, to void, in order to embody what is the least tangible: its spirit…
I've always been an artist in the soul and I am passionate about the human body and its anatomy. Since childhood I have been drawing, painting, sculpting. When I was in high school I started the Beaux Arts de Versailles but my family pressure prompted me to turn to medicine, but deep inside I was and I remain an artist.
